So it's my birthday in a couple of weeks and I will be 39. I have never been worried about age or aging and I'm not about to start now. I found that the more I thought about turning 40 the more I wanted to be the best version of myself when I get there. I have decided the best way to do that is to subject myself to a number of races throughout the first part of the year and other things I have always wanted to try but for any number of reasons I haven't yet. I will determine the other things after the New Year but for now I am committed to some running preparation and races for 2012.
My first race is in March. An 8k which is around 5 miles. Next is a 10k in April, leading up the a half marathon in May. I have done a half marathon. Last May I barely propelled myself through the sheer force of gravity/falling forward to complete a women's half marathon in a little over 2 and a half hours. This time I would like to finish the race and not need to be seen by an EMT.
I have always appreciated how I am able to perform outside of my comfort zone and I intend to put myself out there this year and we shall see the results. I have till the rest of 2011 to enjoy my wine and lack of self control around good food and then 2012 to bring the pain, I mean discipine. This could be really fun or the worst idea I have every had.
